As of July 1st 2009, a pre-flight GPS RAIM Prediction analysis is required by the FAA for flights intending to use RNAV routing, departure and arrival procedures for flights using GPS as the sole navigation source.
Air Routing International (ARI) provides an integrated GPS RAIM Prediction solution, which combines the flight plan and ARI's GPS RAIM PredictionTM service to meet the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) new pre-flight requirements.
A GPS RAIM Prediction analysis simply determines if there will be enough GPS satellites in view for the entire route and at all airports including the alternate. It is important to remember that GPS RAIM Prediction analysis is just a prediction and does not guarantee that RAIM failure will not occur during flight.
